What is the beginning level and steps of advancement when you are a High School English Teacher?

I’m going to make one more attempt. help?

I live in Penn Hills and I have an 18 month old son. I want to join a playgroup for him. I can’t find any though, and I posted a question about this 2 days ago and nobody responded at all. I was thinking about Gymboree but its a 45 minute drive and Logan would be cranky by the time we got there. Are there any others? If not… Is anyone intrested in starting one?! My son goes to the nursery in his church and he loves it! And I figured if I could get another group together or join one it would be great. I work at the Penn Hills Middle School, so I don’t get off until 2:30ish..

Anyone who goes to a private school which is boarding and day?

hey everyody i will give best answerr and all. For the school Lawrenceville in NJ ( you dont even have to go there to answer this) it has the schedule for a day in the life of a student there but that’s like only for boarding students. What about day students how long are they allowed on campus and like do they eat the food the school provides? Also, could you explain the small differences between them except for the fact that boarding students live there while day students don’t? Oh and can the day students come and hang out with the boarding ones?

Should we retain our daughter in Kindergarten?

Our daughter is 5, her birthday is 1 March. She attends a private kindergarten. Her teachers (who have been wonderful) called us and asked for a conference in Oct. They asked what is her learning style was and indicated she cannot recognized the differences in the sounds of letters. They also said she was shy and seemed anxious. It was suggested she maybe a candidate for retention.

During our November conference the teachers indicated her confidence was improving and our daughter was becoming more outgoing. Academically though she is falling way behind. Out of 22 students, our daughter and 2 others could not write 1,2,3,4 on to 10 on a piece of paper. On the same assignment 17 students wrote 1 to 30 perfectly.

I’ve compared her hand writing to other kids and I can see she’s just not up to level with the rest of the class. Phonics…the same, she really struggles. Her teachers are indicating retaining is a good idea.

Other info:
*She didn’t go to pre-school - My wife home schooled her and our son.

*Our son is doing great in 3rd grade

*We moved last year and our daughter wasn’t happy about moving. She’s been forced out of her comfort zone, like alot of kids.

*Socially our daughter does very well, especially here at home and in the neighborhood.

*My wife and I used to be classroom teachers and we spend time everyday working with our daughter (review lessons, flash cards, hand writing, math manipulatives).

*We feel like for every 12 inches we give our daughter in at home instruction, we see an inch of progress. Kind of frustrating.

The next step - We still have months before we make a decision. What should we be doing now? Testing,,,what kind? Should we retain her? Or is continuing on to 1st grade better?

High School Friends Reunion, Need help on Ideas?

I have arranged a reunion of sorts with some high school friends of mine about 10 guys and girls. We will be meeting at a local pub to watch one of our friends play in his band and hang out for the evening. This will be the first time in 15 years that we will all be together and I wanted to do something special for the evening but I am not that creative. Can anyone help this be a memorable evening for everyone.

Is middle school what I think it is?

I’ve heard that middle school is fun and there’s no bullies. But i see it as an awkward place with 6 foot tall girls who are going to shove me in my locker! Does anyone have tips on middle school? Please don’t give me tips on school work because I’m pretty smart!
