Would it be a good idea for schools to install surveillance cameras in their classrooms?

Or would that violate student-teacher privacy concerns?
I think it would be a good idea overall. It would allow monitoring of classroom safety, allow schools to evaluate teacher effectiveness more thoroughly and serve as a record when any student-teacher disputes arose.
I think those goals override any privacy concerns. Not that students have an expectation of privacy in a school classroom to begin with, but certainly the idea of being surveilled would probably irritate some folks.
What do you think?

We have camera’s watching us every where else we go. The bank, the gas station, grocery store, driving down the highway. With the level of violence in schools now I think it would be a good idea too. And as for the expectation of privacy, the only place you can expect that is on your privatly owned property.

I dont see any reason why it would be a bad idea, what have the teachers or students got to hide? Also if students knew there were cameras in the classroom they would probably be less likely to mess about etc. in fear that the recording could be shown to parents if needed.

kids would answer less openly in my opinion, becauase they feel like someone who can get thim into major trouble is watching their every move, and will not voice their opinions how they trlu feel.

I think it’s an excellent idea, however, schools will argue that they can’t afford it. The government will not spend that kind of money on EVERY school, and if they pick and choose schools to use the system, then other schools will feel discriminated against.

People just make privacy an issue so other people can DO BAD THİNGS It is a great idea it will catch any wrongdoing as well as the teachers effectiveness I do not see anything wrong with it.Cameras should have microphones to catch anything wrong that is discussed and usually kids my age don’t support cameras in school

I think cameras in the classroom would be a very good idea however the cost would be outrageous and the schools just couldn’t afford that.
