My son and I have recently moved to Manhattan, New York from rural Missouri and I want to enroll him in a public elementary school. We live in Harlem and unfortunately schools in the area lack cultural diversity with the entire student body consisting of African Americans. I want my son to be exposed to many not just one group of people.
Is there a way that I can register my son in another school outside my district? Are there any legal precedents or can I register my son in the school district where I work?

I left my Journalism class sometime last year mainly because I felt like the newspaper wasn’t for me. Well, I have returned as a Copy Editor this Monday and all that I can say is…wow! The paper is literally dying. We only have three Editors (and they don’t even do their job), we do not have a lot of staff, and…bah. It is just horrible. I returned because it would look good on my transcripts that I worked for the school’s newspaper, but the paper is dying! Is there a way for me to take over and bring life to this paper?
Did I mention that the writing is horrible and the layout is just….tacky. We do not have a lot of money either.

I recently received a $250 speeding ticket in Massachusetts for doing 90 in a 65. A truck was merging into my lane and was about to hit me. The officer was outside of his car when he saw me. He waved at me, I immediately slowed down, and he jumped in his car, turned on his lights and I pulled over immediately. He said that because I didn’t stop when he waved, it was an extra $100 fine. First of all, is this fair? Since when was I supposed to know that waving meant pull over (even if it’s what he DID mean, can he really punish me for having misunderstood)? Also, if I plead not guilty, will I have to travel to MA for a hearing, and will I have any say in when that hearing takes place? I’m moving to Montana to work for the summer, so I can’t just zip over to Mass. I’m transferring to an MA school next spring, is there any way to delay the hearing until then? If I plead guilty, how will an out-of-state ticket affect my record/insurance in Pennsylvania?
I didn’t argue with him, I accepted the ticket and apologized. He also never wrote anything on the ticket about the extra $100 fine, all he put was speeding = $250.
Other important info: I was in an accident a week ago where my car was totalled in a hit-and-run. Since then, my parents have taken me off their insurance. How can my insurance rates go up as the result of a ticket if I’m not part of any insurance plan?

I took a course at NYU just for fun after college. It wasn’t for units, but I got a grade that wasn’t as strong as the ones I got in undergrad. If I applied to grad. school/law school later, would this grade get factored in, and if so, how significantly do grad. schools weigh noncredit classes?

I mean I know the ten commandments pertain predominately to Christianity, but seriously what religion does not agree with sayings from the ten Commandments such as “Thou shall not Kill, Thou shall not commit adultery, Thou shall not steal, and Honor thy Father and Mother? Essentially the ten commandments are the laws of society and the moral foundations our founding fathers layed out for America. Who got rid of the ten commandments in our schools? Why?
