What is the beginning level and steps of advancement when you are a High School English Teacher?

Do I start off in a classroom?
If so, then where can I go from there?

How can I make a good impression going back to a brick-and-mortar school?

I have been home schooled from 6th grade on, and now as a high school junior I am enrolling in a small private school. I admit…I’m worried about what the other students will think of me. All my teenage life I’ve been at home and I’ve never had a good gauge of how people view me. I’d also like to do a little “back to school” making over, so any tips there would be helpful too. I am a creative soul with a casual (as in jeans, cords, Converse hightops [my trademark], sweaters, funky shirts, faded button-downs, etc. I love to layer.) personal style with an artsy flare. Any ideas for how I can not only get a good reputation but also have a good personal image to back it up?
I believe the above has been read wrongly - I am actively involved in activities such as softball, dance and band, I have a job, etc. I do not hide out in my home and it is my desire to branch out in this world. Telling me to go home will not accomplish this.

Are we voting for Obama as President or the next American Idol?

You couldn’t get a job at McDonalds and become district manager after 143 days of experience.

You couldn’t become chief of surgery after 143 days of experience of being a surgeon.

You couldn’t get a job as a teacher and be the superintendent after 143 days of experience.

You couldn’t join the military and become a colonel after a 143 days of experience.

You couldn’t get a job as a reporter and become the nightly news anchor after 143 days of experience.

BUT….

From the time Barrack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That’s how many days the Senate was actually in session and working. After 143 days of work experience, and merely voting “Present” (instead of for/against) over 100 times, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World …. 143 days.

We all have to start somewhere. The senate is a good start, but after 143 days, that’s all it is - a start.

AND, strangely, a large sector of the American public is okay with this and campaigning for him.
We wouldn’t accept this in our own line of work, yet some are okay with this for the President of the United States of America ?
Come on folks, we are not voting for the next American Idol!

A friend sent me this and it makes sooooooo much sense. lol

We’ve elected actors and sports figures into office many times. One was President and didn’t do a bad job. Ivy league doesn’t mean everything..

High school newspaper editors?

Our current co-editors will be graduating next year, so will be be needing a new editor. As a sophomore, I am currently the most senior member of the writing staff, so I think that the advisor may want to make me the editor for next year (the position is an appointed one).

How can I tip her off that I am interested in the job? I don’t want to bring it up too soon, but at the same time I also need to establish myself as a front-runner.

My High School newspaper is DYING. Help?

I left my Journalism class sometime last year mainly because I felt like the newspaper wasn’t for me. Well, I have returned as a Copy Editor this Monday and all that I can say is…wow! The paper is literally dying. We only have three Editors (and they don’t even do their job), we do not have a lot of staff, and…bah. It is just horrible. I returned because it would look good on my transcripts that I worked for the school’s newspaper, but the paper is dying! Is there a way for me to take over and bring life to this paper?

Did I mention that the writing is horrible and the layout is just….tacky. We do not have a lot of money either.

Dental Hygienists, was it difficult to get accepted into hygiene school and how difficult was the curriculum?

I am interested in becoming a Dental Hygienist! I currently am in a Dental Assisting program & absolutely love it and am SO interested in Dentistry. I have decided to ‘move on’ and major in DH and possibly work at a pediatric office. (I have observed in a pedio office and loved it!!!) I am not worried about ‘burning out’ like everyone says and every job i have been at I have LOVED, i am just that type of person, thats not a problem at all,. I do have a concern for the schooling aspect.. I graduated high school last year and overall probably had a B average. I wasn’t ‘TOP of the class’ but I wasn’t an awful student. If I work hard enough and set my mind towards a goal I know I can achieve it (so corny ). I am wondering how difficult it is to get accepted and how difficult the curriculum is. Unfortunately since I didn’t take my SAT’s and most 4 year colleges need scores, I may attend a local County College to take some of the basic classes. Please leave any suggestions for me,. thank
