How do I survive and make friends in High School?

I am going to start High School in a few weeks and I am super stressed. I am not worried at all about how well I will do academically, I am worried about how well I will do socially. The friends I have now are fine, but it seems like we will be in different cliques in High School, so I was wondering how is the best possible way to make new friends in high school that doesn’t require making a fool out of myself. I had an awesome friend in Middle School/Junior High that moved away, so I don’t have his support anymore and my other close friends will probably be of different Social/Ethnicity Cliques in High School. So I have a few questions I hope you can help me with.
1) How do I make new friends in High School? (People I WANT to hang out with) (I don’t want to be lost socially in High School) (P.S. - I am a boy and am kinda shy)
2) I want to join the soccer team. For those of you who have played Freshman Soccer, any tips on what the coaches look for?
Thanks in advance.

How Long Does It Take For Pupil Dilation End?

I recently came from an Eye exam from my local ophthalmologist and he inserted several drops of pupil dilating drops in my eyes. He said that the eyes will be come normal over time, so I was wondering what is the amount of time in hours that it normally takes for the eyes to become normal? I’m worried because I can’t see a thing up close or far, lol. Thanks in advance for your answers.

Getting my Step-kids to listen to me more with school work/chores?

I’m only 20 and my step kids are twin 11 year olds. I met their father and they immediatly grew attached to me. I know that they love me so much, but i’m having a difficult time trying to get my son to listen to me more with school work. I don’t know if it’s because of me being his step mom or just because he doesn’t like school. I have tried praseing him for good jobs and being nice. I’ve tried being tough on him and make him do better in school. I’m getting sick and tired of fighting for hours to get him to study or just to read 20 minutes. Any suggestions?

I’ve also tried giving him treats for doing a great job but it doesn’t seem like that make him want to do any better. I’ve also taken away things for doing a bad job, and then given them back when he has learned from it. I.E. if he gets something wrong I make him correct, wether it’s a test or just school work. This is really hard on me. Thanks in advance. {:-)

Possible to entirely fail the math part of the GED, and pass?

In Washington state.

For example, since I’m terrible at mathematics, but passed all other parts with flying colors, except for the math part, could I have a chance at passing the test as a whole, if that makes sense? What does the math part add up to in points?

Thanks in advance!

How do elementary school newspapers work in general?

I write stories about children in elementary school (in America), and I don’t think mine had a newspaper, but I’m interested in including this in my story. Any help you could give me would be much appreciated; I know this is a broad question, so if you remember from your experience, or have kids involved with a newspaper at their school, can you please tell me about it? I was wondering how often the newspaper would likely be printed, how many pages it would be, and then how often the students/staff would meet, would it be after/before/during school, etc? I’m clueless, basically, apart from what I have seen and read in books and shows, but I’d like to hear from real people. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thanks in advance for any answers…
