What are math courses at the GED level?
September 15th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I am applying to tutor for adult literacy and the application also asks if I would be interested in tutoring GED-Level Math. I haven’t taken a math course in 8 years, but I did rather well in High School with it and I feel like I could contribute in this area as well. What sort of math is on the GED tests?

When you go to tutoring, do they tutor you on what you learn in class?

Do they teach you what you’re learning in your school at the moment, or do they just teach you other things?

If I help in my Catholic School’s Summer Tutoring Program, should I be forced to wear my school uniform?
July 14th, 2009 Posted by: admin
Ok well like lots of kids in the summer, I want to make some money. But I am not old enough to get a part job somewhere. My Catholic School does a Summer Tutoring Program. It is available to any boys and girls of any school (1st to 8th grade) and goes every Monday to Friday for about 8 hours a day from June 25 to August 3 (our summer vacation is from June 24 to August 6). That means I will be at school tutoring 27 of my 42 days of summer break (we get July 3-5 off). That’s about 216 hours of my summer. I get paid $6 an hour (I know it’s below minimum). After doing the math, I can make $1,296 in this short summer. Since you have to meet certain criteria to be eligible to tutor, all my closest friends will not be doing this. Not a lot of people I know or hang out with will be doing this. But another major downside to this is we will have to wear our school uniforms to the tutoring sessions. So that means over half the summer, I will have to wear my school uniform. The
students recieving the tutoring do not have to wear uniforms. And the teachers can wear anything they want (within reason). Personally, I think this is unfair. I was planning on just going over to one my friends’ houses after tutoring to hang out and relax after a long day, but I don’t know if I really want to go if I will be the only one there in my school uniform (in the summer!!!). So, can they do this? Is it fair? Is it worth it? What should I do?

Is it possible for a high school student to get a part time job as a tutor for younger students in Australia?
July 3rd, 2009 Posted by: admin
As a high scoring student, I was wondering if it is possible to get a job tutoring younger students in some sort of tutorial centre. Does anyone know of any such centre that would accept current senior high school students (Year 11)? I’ve heard of it done before but I don’t know where.
Any advice, any advice at all, on this topic, would be good.
